Rubén Uría: 'Bayern don't know Atleti's knockout punch, Barça do'
Up against Nacho Donado and Alberto Carballo, Uría denies that the European defeat will weigh on Sunday's game
Rubén Uría debates with his panel the consequences of the Champions League defeat for the clash with FC Barcelona
On 'El Club de Uría', the panel discusses fears that the blow suffered against Bayern Munich could take its toll against FC Barcelona. Rubén Uría rejects the idea: a different competition, a far bigger prize and an opponent who knows what it is to go down against Atlético de Madrid.
During the debate on 'El Club de Uría', Nacho Donado and Alberto Carballo agree that what happened against Bayern will probably affect Atlético de Madrid against Barça: both opponents press hard and dominate, and Atleti had been on a good run before feeling that the gap was much bigger than expected.
Rubén Uría takes a different view. He believes it is a different kind of game and that it will not weigh on the players' minds. Why? It is another competition, with a much bigger prize: against Bayern there were only three points at stake, whereas against Barça it is about going into the international break top of the table. And he adds something else: Bayern do not know what it is like for Atleti to hand them a couple of bloody noses, but Barça do. And that could work in their favour.
Uría insists that neither the fans, nor the dressing room, nor the club will approach the game the way they did against Bayern. Hugo Condés goes further, suggesting the defeat could act as a spur. Carballo, for his part, points to the Julián Álvarez factor as the most important thing of all.
