Uría: "As Tyson said, everyone has a plan until they get hit"
Everyone has a plan until they get slapped in the face, and against Bayern there was a lack of aggression
Rubén Uría demands maximum aggression from Atlético against Barça
Rubén Uría quotes Tyson to explain that the plan matters less than the attitude. He wants an Atleti pushing aggression to the limit in every duel; otherwise, he warns, they will not get anywhere near Barça.
Things heat up on 'El Club de Uría'. In the middle of a tactical debate about how Atlético beat Barça 4-0 in the Copa del Rey, Nacho Donado sums it up: the team has to come out brave. Rubén Uría points out that it is not only about that and turns to Tyson's famous line: "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face". Atleti had a plan against Bayern, it collapsed with Le Normand's mistake and everything fell apart.
That is why Uría does not care about the plan: attacking, defending, playing with a back five or a back four. What he wants is a team playing right at the limit of aggression. He puts it vividly: you cannot go in studs first, but you can put a shove on an opponent, go into a fifty-fifty and come away with the ball "and even Fermín's sock if need be".
Uría feels he saw no aggression anywhere against Bayern. He insists he is no purist and is not demanding about style, but in the duels and in terms of speed he wants maximum effort. With that attitude and the players at his disposal, he is convinced Atleti will win. Without it, they will not get anywhere near Barcelona. Alberto Carballo adds that, with the stadium roaring them on, he would like to see an Atleti willing to "trade blows".
