Rodrigo Mendoza has once again been called up by David Gordo's Spain Under-21 side for two friendlies against Japan and Albania.
Spain have announced their Under-21 squad for the friendlies against Japan in Almendralejo and Albania in Tirana. The two matches will serve as preparation for the 2027 European Under-21 Championship, which will be held in Serbia and Albania.
At the press conference, head coach David Gordo was asked by Nacho Donado about Rodrigo Mendoza and his situation. He was full of praise for the Atlético player: "What I hope from Rodrigo is that he always stays true to himself. His footballing level is spectacular, he's a tremendous player, one of my soft spots."
He also went on to analyse the player's profile and what he brings to the national side. "He reads the game wonderfully, he sees every situation very well, and he's a very complete player who can play as a '6', as an '8' and even close to the box. Mendoza is one of those players who make us enjoy the game, even when he was coming in with few minutes back then, though now he's getting a few more. I'm sure he has plenty of room for improvement," said Gordo.
Words worth bearing in mind for the talented young midfielder.
