Sorloth has played just 20 minutes all season for Atlético
Rubén Uría believes he could finally get 25 to 30 minutes against Deportivo
Rubén Uría goes through Sorloth's numbers in the story of the day
The Norwegian has logged 17 minutes against Arabes and 3 in Stuttgart. Rubén Uría looks back at his injury and at how Jonathan David and Julián Álvarez have overtaken him, and predicts a bigger role for him against Depor.
El Club Uría's story of the day is all about one man: Alexander Sorloth. Rubén Uría puts forward a surprising figure: the Norwegian striker has played just 20 minutes so far this season, 17 against Arabes and 3 against Stuttgart.
The context helps explain it. Sorloth got injured after his first training session, with a muscle contracture and a relapse that, according to Uría, were never fully explained, and he was sidelined from 12 August until 5 October. In that month and a half, Jonathan David earned his place with three goals and two assists in his first eight matches, while Julián Álvarez is starting to rediscover his best form after hitting the woodwork twice and scoring in Stuttgart.
The coaching staff, Uría explains, see Sorloth as a different kind of option off the bench and want him to work his way into the team's rhythm gradually. His prediction for the game against Deportivo de la Coruña: Sorloth will not start, as the attacking spots look set for Baena and Julián, perhaps also Kang In Lee, but he could get more minutes than usual, somewhere between 25 and 30.
