From the training ground in Majadahonda, Nacho Donado assesses the state of play at Atlético de Madrid a day before they host Deportivo de la Coruña. There are three absentees: Johnny Cardoso, with a muscle problem that will keep him out for at least a week, and Koke and Cuti Romero, who are still training on their own in a bid to be ready for the final week before the international break, with Bayern and Barcelona on the horizon.

The good news is Kang-in Lee, who completed the session as normal with the rest of the squad. The biggest question mark over the starting XI hinges on his condition.
