Rubén Uría: "Bayern ran all over Atleti" after 0-2 defeat
Rubén Uría opens the post-match show after the 0-2 loss to Bayern by pointing to a gulf in pace between the two sides
Rubén Uría explains in the studio the difference in pace between Bayern and Atlético
Rubén Uría pulls no punches after the 0-2: Bayern were better on the ball and even better off it. Had they pushed harder, he says, they would have put seven past Atlético. The team now has a huge amount of work to do just to be able to compete with opponents like this.
Right at the start of the post-match show, Rubén Uría confirms that the worst fears he had before the game have come true. He returns to an idea he often repeats on European nights: Atlético de Madrid cannot cope with the pace, intensity and aggression with which the Champions League is played.
For Uría, Bayern Munich were superior in every department. They were far better on the ball and better still without it. He places them alongside Paris Saint-Germain among the contenders to win the competition. He describes Atlético as a good team who would have conceded seven had Bayern put their foot down.
His conclusion is that it is time to applaud the opponent and take note. Atlético have a huge amount of work to do, not to beat sides like this but simply to be able to compete with them. He sums it up with an image: the Germans are on a motorbike while Atlético are on a scooter, light years apart with and without the ball.
