Le Normand and Lookman singled out after Atlético's trip to Vitoria
Nacho Donado believes they deserve to be benched far more than Mendoza and Vargas
Nacho Donado names Le Normand and Lookman as the worst players of the match
Robin Le Normand's penalty has reopened the debate: Rubén Uría wants someone to have a serious word with him about his grabbing, while Nacho Donado calls him a loose cannon and is just as worried about Lookman's form.
The penalty that brought Alavés back into a game they were not in is still stinging. Rubén Uría accepts that people will tell him such fouls are not given against other teams, or that the opponent was grabbing too, but he insists Le Normand has to shake off his habit of holding onto strikers and that it is time someone had a serious talk with him.
Nacho Donado adds that VAR also checked a possible foul on Johnny in the same move, but he goes further. With all due respect, because he is a player he likes, he considers Le Normand a loose cannon: you never know what you are going to get, and he has moments that overshadow much of what he does well.
For Donado, he and Lookman were by far the worst players on the pitch. Both are footballers he rates, but right now they are not at the level of what Atleti are fighting for, to the point that, in his view, they deserve to be left out far more than Mendoza and Vargas. He admits he has been worried about Lookman since before the LaLiga season started, and that Le Normand's latest error is part of a string of blunders that are no coincidence.
