Kang-in Lee fit and available for Atlético's trip to Alavés
His 45 minutes against Uzbekistan were part of a workload plan agreed with South Korea
Rubén Uría explains the minutes plan agreed with South Korea for Kang-in Lee
Amid alarm over Kang-in Lee's ankle, Rubén Uría insists the South Korean is 100% fit for Alavés: his minutes with South Korea were agreed between Atlético, the player and the national team coach.
Alarm bells had been ringing in several media outlets during the morning: Kang-in Lee injured, a knock, ankle problems. Rubén Uría has moved to set the record straight with the information the programme has. The player himself explained in the mixed zone that it was nothing new, just some discomfort he has been carrying for a while and needs to manage.
According to Uría, Kang-in Lee is in perfect condition and will be 100% available for the match in Vitoria. South Korea had four games, and Atlético, the player and the national team coach agreed on the best possible plan: he sat out the first, played 90 minutes in the next two and only 45 in the last, against Uzbekistan. The workload management, he insists, has been perfect.
Uría is blunt about it: there is no knock, no injury and no doubt over his fitness. He will be available to Simeone against Deportivo Alavés, and Uría considers that superb news, as the South Korean has been one of Atlético's most important players in this start to the season.
