Jorge San Cristóbal: Atlético Madrileño deserved derby defeat to Castilla
The 3-2 loss in the reserve-team derby was not the referee's fault, and the division could soon put them in their place
Jorge San Cristóbal analyses Atlético Madrileño's defeat to Castilla
Jorge San Cristóbal refuses to hide behind the officiating: Castilla showed more hunger and more football, Fernando Torres's side suffered at the back without Javi Gil and did not even deserve a point. Either they react now, he warns, or they will pay for it.
Rubén Uría reviews the reserve-team derby with Jorge San Cristóbal: Real Madrid Castilla 3, Atlético Madrileño 2, with Jorge Castillo hitting the post in the closing moments.
San Cristóbal frames it as part of a poor run that dates back to the game against Villarreal B, who are top of the table for a reason. Castilla came into the match in bad shape, with just one win to their name, but showed more hunger and more football. He found Fernando Torres's side flat in midfield and badly exposed at the back, where the absence of Javi Gil was felt; the defender will also miss the next round of fixtures.
He acknowledges there was a red card that was not given, but dwelling only on the referee, he says, would be the stuff of crybabies. In his view the team did not deserve to win, or even to take a point, and the defeat was fair. He does not want to sound the alarm, but looking at the fixture list he is clear: either Atlético Madrileño react now, or the division will put them in their place.
