With some supporters afraid to get their hopes up, Alberto Carballo makes the case for enjoying what is tangible: points, performances and a week featuring Bayern and Barça. After a tragic week, he reminds everyone that life is short.
The panel debates whether supporters should start to believe. Alberto Carballo acknowledges that many fans are afraid to get their hopes up so as not to be brought crashing back down, a complex he admits exists. But he suggests looking at what is tangible: the present cannot be argued with.
Atleti are top of the table with twenty-odd points, playing well, winning, averaging an excellent points tally and have a wonderful week ahead with Bayern Munich and Barcelona at home.
And he takes it beyond football: if you can't get excited now, you are failing to understand Atleti, football and life itself, which, he points out in reference to that same week's tragedy, comes to an end. If your team plays attractive football and competes, you have to enjoy it. Perhaps games will be lost in January, he concedes, but that will be a problem for the future. The present, he concludes, is something to be happy about.
