Giménez won't celebrate if he scores at the Metropolitano
The centre-back asked for no 'fear clause' so he could play at the Metropolitano
Giménez's El Larguero interview plays during the live stream
Speaking on El Larguero, José María Giménez explained that he wanted to be available against Atlético, that he hopes both sides win, and that he will not celebrate if he scores at the Metropolitano.
Ahead of Simeone's press conference, Rubén Uría revisits an excerpt from José María Giménez's interview on Cadena SER's El Larguero, in which Manu Carreño asked him what would happen if he scored against Atlético de Madrid.
The audio confirms that the centre-back asked not to have a clause preventing him from playing in the match, and that Atlético agreed without any problem. Asked whether he would like to score, he answered with a calculation: that Atlético win all their remaining games and that his side win on Saturday. When pressed, he simply pointed out that people know him and that he competes for 90 minutes.
The final question was about celebrating, and the answer was a flat no, which the interviewer summed up: scoring, yes; celebrating, no. Uría highlights it as the line that captures the Uruguayan's return to what will always be his home.
