Atlético's reserve team are sinking into the lower reaches of the table. They lost to Europa after throwing away a 0-2 lead, and have only themselves to blame for their place near the bottom of Primera RFEF.
Atlético Madrileño have been shooting themselves in the foot for several weeks now. They started the season in fine form, but have not won in eight weeks, and today's match against Europa, second from bottom in Group 2 of Primera RFEF, looks like rock bottom. That is two months without a win, and the team are leaving a very poor impression. With every game that passes, it gets worse.
This time, Fernando Torres' side let slip an ideal 0-2 half-time lead and ended up losing 3-2 at Can Dragó to a Europa side who mounted a comeback and have left Atlético's reserve team in serious trouble. The Atleti reserves, who went ahead twice through goals from Marc Doménech, were once again unable to take anything positive from the game and are now in real difficulty in the division.
The Catalan side, in a tricky situation themselves, sat second from bottom in Group B with just two wins in 10 matchdays, against Rayo Majadahonda and Algeciras. Until today, Luis Blanco's team had collected only 7 points out of a possible 30. Today they beat Atlético Madrileño by overturning a 0-2 half-time deficit, leaving Fernando Torres' side badly wounded and still unable to turn things around.
Torres' team will next face the bottom side. The Madrileño are in crisis, and failing to win that match would spell serious trouble for Atlético's reserve team.
