Who is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Atlético de Madrid's new investor?
The two-time NBA MVP has beaten Nikola Jokic in each of the last two votes
Nacho Donado reviews Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's NBA career
Nacho Donado explains who Atlético's new investor is: a two-time MVP, a champion with Oklahoma, Spain's tormentor with Canada, and the player who achieved something nobody had managed in 25 years.
Rubén Uría asks Nacho Donado, a keen NBA follower, to explain who Atlético's new investor is. Donado starts with a joke, asking why anyone would turn to Spanish NBA commentator Daimiel when they could ask him, and then sketches a profile of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
According to Donado, he has been the regular-season MVP for the past two years, beating Nikola Jokic in both votes, and he won the title with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He describes him as a tremendous scorer, charismatic and a perennial All-Star, and points out that he has tormented the Spanish national team with Canada, a side that is, on top of that, coached by a Spaniard.
His verdict: he is not LeBron James in terms of media profile, but when he won the title, it had been 25 years since anyone had been regular-season MVP, Finals MVP and champion in the same season. This is no ordinary player joining Atlético.
