Simeone wary of Alavés, LaLiga's meanest defence, ahead of trip
Responding to Nacho Donado on the team's unfinished business of winning away from home
Simeone assesses Alavés after Nacho Donado's question
With three of the next four games on the road, Simeone describes a tough Alavés side, well drilled defensively by Quique and dangerous in the air, and expects a difficult match at Mendizorroza.
Nacho Donado, speaking for El Club Uría, reminded Simeone that the team face three away trips in their next four matches and that winning on the road has been unfinished business in previous seasons. How important is it to start with a victory in Vitoria?
Simeone did not talk about his own side but about the opposition: Alavés have conceded the fewest goals in the division, have been doing things very well, and Quique is working particularly hard on the defensive side, as well as making the most of their strength in the air and the forward runs of the players who join the attack.
His conclusion was that Atlético are in for a difficult, demanding match, and that they will have to take it to where he believes they can hurt the opposition.
