Simeone on Koke's absence: 'He's a strong lad'
The captain misses the trip to Espanyol following a family bereavement and a leg complaint
Simeone speaks about Koke's personal situation ahead of the Espanyol game
Radio Nacional asked about Koke and Cardoso, who will both miss the Espanyol game. Simeone explained that the captain is grieving and carrying a knock, which is why the decision was taken not to include him in the squad.
Neither Koke nor Cardoso will be available to Diego Pablo Simeone for the LaLiga trip to RCD Espanyol. Simeone explained that Cardoso is unwell and confirmed that the captain will also miss out, having been unable to train on the pitch in recent days following what happened on Wednesday.
Simeone answered with care. He said Koke is going through the process everyone goes through when they lose a family member. He was also carrying a leg complaint, which is why the coaching staff decided not to take him to Barcelona.
The coach closed with words of support: "Koke is a strong lad and I'm sure he'll get through this difficult time in the best possible way alongside his family, who are a lovely family."
