Simeone gets emotional over José María Giménez's Metropolitano return

In his press conference ahead of the Deportivo game, Simeone makes no secret of his affection for José María Giménez, who returns to the Metropolitano as an opponent: he is grateful to him and wishes him all the best.

In the pre-match press conference, Pascual Ruiz asks Simeone how he feels about seeing José María Giménez as an opponent at the Metropolitano, after more than ten years at the club, trophies and the captain's armband.

Simeone does not separate the opponent from the person: he speaks of the man who helped him, stood by him and kept him grounded inside the dressing room, with enormous commitment. He declares himself utterly grateful and says Giménez was, and remains, one of Atlético's most important centre-backs since he arrived at the club.
