Real Madrid top LaLiga's all-time list for penalties awarded
Los Blancos have been awarded 601 penalties in the history of the competition, ahead of Barça on 550 and Atlético on 498 in LaLiga's all-time standings
Rubén Uría goes through LaLiga's all-time table of penalties awarded
Rubén Uría answers the Madridista victim narrative with numbers: Real Madrid have been awarded more penalties than any other team in LaLiga history. And he asks the same question about the Champions League.
After the penalty given to Madrid in Santander, Rubén Uría suggests setting opinions aside and looking at the data. He asks his audience which team has been awarded the most penalties in LaLiga history and leaves a few seconds of suspense.
The answer, according to the figures he has as of early November 2026: Real Madrid, with 601 penalties. Barcelona follow with 550, 51 fewer, with Atlético de Madrid third on 498. These figures are confirmed by the 'LaLiga en Directo' account, dated 3 November 2026.
Uría does the same with the Champions League and puts the all-time leader on 64 penalties awarded, ahead of Bayern, Barcelona, Manchester City and Arsenal. His conclusion is ironic: that is how history is written, and then along come those who talk about the Negreira refereeing scandal and claim that everything is against them.
The numbers are what they are; some of them reflect a long-standing trend and they certainly contradict the narrative, widely pushed by part of the Madrid-supporting media, that insists Real Madrid are being robbed and stand alone "against everything and everyone". The data is the data. Real Madrid are the team with the most penalties awarded in LaLiga history. That fact is beyond dispute.
