Pepe Pasqués on Bucero: "Some things you can't come back from – betrayal is one"
Reflections on El Confidencial's report about Carlos Bucero
José Luis Pasqués calls the Bucero affair extremely serious
José Luis Pasqués admits that, before Bucero arrived, the references he heard about him were not good. If the report is confirmed, he says, it would be a huge disappointment and a heavy blow for the club.
Rubén Uría opens the second panel discussion by pointing out that thirteen days have passed since El Confidencial reported that Carlos Bucero negotiated with Barça over Julián Álvarez behind Atlético's back, and that since then there has been nothing but silence.
José Luis Pasqués begins by acknowledging that, when Bucero's arrival at Atlético was on the horizon, the references he received were not the best, although at the time he had to be given a chance to find his feet. Now, he says, the situation reminds him of certain films: a Trojan horse, a mole. He says it almost as a joke, he clarifies, because this is an extremely serious matter.
Beyond everything that has been said about Barcelona's approach and Julián's conduct, if it is confirmed it would be a huge disappointment and a major blow for the club. And he signs off with an emphatic line: there are things you cannot come back from, and one of them is betrayal. "And I say that from experience," he adds.
