Oblak two games away from overtaking Adelardo in Atlético history
He would become the player with the second-most appearances in Atleti's history, behind only Koke
The panel reviews Oblak's records at Atlético
The panel points out that Oblak is on the verge of becoming the player with the second-most appearances for Atlético. It is a record that is slipping under the radar while he enjoys a superb start to the season.
Pascual Ruiz highlights a stat that, in his view, is going largely unnoticed: if Jan Oblak starts the next three matches, he will overtake Adelardo and become the player with the second-most appearances in an Atlético shirt, behind only Koke, whose 700-plus games nobody will ever match.
He runs through the goalkeeper's individual honours: the keeper with the most Zamora Trophies, awarded to LaLiga's best goalkeeper, the highest clean-sheet percentage and the foreign player with the most appearances for the club. On top of that comes his current form, including a save with his foot against Deportivo that he describes as outrageous.
'Pascu' recalls that there was talk of Oblak no longer being at his best, but believes his start to the season is one of the reasons Atleti are winning games by the narrowest of margins, as in Vitoria, Cornellà and against Depor. Another panellist adds that he had expected more debate over Musso and stresses how much Oblak has improved with the ball at his feet.
