Multifútbol's new cult heroes: Torreense and Inter d'Escaldes
Torreense and Inter d'Escaldes, Multifútbol's secret favourites
The voice of Multifútbol presents his surprise teams on the live stream
Which teams does Multifútbol follow with a soft spot? A Portuguese second-tier side who beat Sporting in the Cup, and Inter d'Escaldes, the first Andorran club to reach a European group stage, where Maurizio Pochettino plays.
Rubén Uría recalls that Bodø/Glimt were the cult team of Multifútbol's previous era and asks his guest for new underdog stories to follow.
The first: Torreense, a side in the lower reaches of Portugal's second division who are playing in Europe after beating Sporting in the Cup final. They won away at Lillestrøm and even went ahead against Sunderland. It is not the first such case, he points out: Wigan played in Europe after winning the FA Cup in the same season they were relegated.
The second is even more special: Inter d'Escaldes, the first Andorran team in history to reach the final stage of a continental competition. They are lads who live and play in Andorra, and among them is Maurizio Pochettino, son of Mauricio. If they manage to pick up a point, he promises, Multifútbol will celebrate it almost like a national holiday. Rubén admits he had expected him to mention Viking.
