Kazakhstan honours Atlético CEO Gil Marín with Order of Dostyk
President Tokayev presents the Order of Dostyk in recognition of Atlético's academy in the country
Rubén Uría recounts the honour given to Gil Marín, as shown on Kazakh television
Miguel Ángel Gil Marín visited Atlético's academy in Kazakhstan, opened in September 2024, and made the day's headlines there: President Tokayev awarded him the Order of Dostyk for his contribution to Kazakh football.
Before getting to the main topic, Rubén Uría shares a story that sounds like a joke but isn't: Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, Atlético de Madrid's CEO, is in Kazakhstan.
The reason is a visit to the academy the club opened there in September 2024. The visit was practically the story of the day in the republic, and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev presented Gil Marín with the Order of Dostyk medal, one of the country's highest honours, for his contribution to Kazakh football.
Uría admits his audience will think it's a wind-up, like other stories told on the show, and explains that it was Nacho Donado who tipped him off after seeing it on Kazakh television.
