Julián Álvarez and Mateu Alemany: a closer working relationship
Everything used to go through Hidalgo first; now the striker deals directly with the sporting director
Rubén Uría discusses the relationship between Julián Álvarez and Mateu Alemany
Rubén Uría highlights the change he considers most important: the line of communication between Julián Álvarez and the club. The Argentine has a close relationship with Mateu Alemany, is getting on better with Simeone and is fitting back into the dressing room.
Beyond the split with his agent, Rubén Uría explains how Julián Álvarez's relationship with Atlético has changed. His rapport with Diego Simeone is much closer than it was in the summer: there is open dialogue, a good working dynamic and an effort to rebuild the chemistry between coach and striker.
But the detail Uría stresses is a different one: the line of communication with the club. Previously, anything to do with Julián went through Fernando Hidalgo first, and that is no longer the case. Since this summer the player has had a fairly close relationship with Mateu Alemany.
According to the journalist, Julián thinks very highly of him, appreciates that the Mallorcan took an interest in him and regards him as a discreet figure who has never let him down. From there, the bridges being built with Atlético are proving rather positive.
