Bucero affair: 14 days of silence at Atlético de Madrid
Rubén Uría demands answers from the club after El Confidencial's report on Barça
Rubén Uría counts the days of Atlético's silence over the Bucero affair
Fourteen days have passed since El Confidencial reported that Carlos Bucero negotiated with Barça behind Atlético's back. Rubén Uría points out that nobody has explained anything and warns that this institutional silence breeds suspicion.
Rubén Uría returns to a subject he has been following closely and one that worries him. It is now 14 days since El Confidencial revealed that Carlos Bucero had negotiated with Barça behind the backs of Gil Marín, Mateo Alemán and Apollo's board of directors. He describes the matter as unpleasant, thorny and serious.
In all that time, he notes, there has been no explanation, no clarification, no statement, no press release and no interview. Uría suspects the club may be waiting for LaLiga to resume so that, once the ball is rolling again, everyone forgets. His ironic response: to anyone hoping for that, he sends a big hug, because he is not going to forget.
For the journalist, the issue is far too serious for Atlético to keep quiet about, and he promises to keep counting the days of silence one by one. His argument is that this institutional silence, far from helping the club, does it harm, and harms the fans even more, because it sows the seeds of suspicion and unease.
