Bittersweet morning after for Atlético following Stuttgart draw
Reporting from Stuttgart, Nacho Donado points the finger at Miguel Ángel Gil over the club's lack of complaints
Nacho Donado joins from Stuttgart to discuss Atlético's lack of complaints
From Stuttgart, Nacho Donado criticises Atlético for only protesting when Real Madrid are involved and for letting their complaints fade within three days, despite Miguel Ángel Gil's influence in football's governing bodies.
Speaking from Stuttgart, Nacho Donado responds to Rubén Uría, who says he has lost count of the European refereeing decisions that have gone against the club. For Donado, the same happens in Spain, and the club's reaction is always the same: an empty complaint. They say the penalty was clear-cut, that people are angry, and three days later nobody cares any more.
The journalist believes Atlético need to stand up for themselves and do not. He finds it even harder to accept given Miguel Ángel Gil's privileged and prestigious position within national and European institutions. If the number two at LaLiga and the ECA is not respected, he asks, how will anyone else be?
He closes with an uncomfortable question about those positions: are they there just for show, or to actually know what goes on in the meetings?
