With Real Madrid and Barça going head to head, Iván Vargas would prefer Barcelona to lose, as he does not see Mourinho's Madrid as favourites. Rubén Uría disagrees: in terms of the table, a draw or a Real Madrid win suits Atleti better.
Rubén Uría poses the question of the weekend: with the Clásico on the horizon, which result is in Atlético de Madrid's best interests?
Iván Vargas believes the defeat to PSG showed that Barcelona are human, given the way they lost, with Joan García as their best player. He sees green shoots at Real Madrid, with Mourinho fitting the pieces together and Valverde looking better at right-back, but he does not consider them favourites for the league title. That is why he would prefer Barcelona to lose, leaving Atlético within striking distance.
Rubén Uría does not entirely agree. The ideal scenario would be for both sides to slip up, in other words a draw; failing that, a Real Madrid win. He acknowledges that almost all Atlético fans are anti-Madrid, but insists that, in terms of the table, that is what suits Atleti.
