Atlético want a January left-back, and maybe a midfielder too
Rubén Uría reports on 'El Club de Uría' that the club do not want to overload Grimaldo and Hancko with minutes
Rubén Uría reveals Atleti's plans for the January transfer window
Rubén Uría presents it as news: Atlético de Madrid want to sign a left-back in the January transfer window to give Grimaldo and Hancko a rest. There are no names yet, and he does not rule out another midfielder.
Following Grimaldo's scare against Deportivo de La Coruña, Rubén Uría shares an important piece of news. At Atlético de Madrid, the technical secretariat, the sporting directorate and the coaching staff have reached a conclusion: they cannot overload Grimaldo with minutes as the only left-back, nor Hancko either. They need someone who can give both of them a rest.
He warns that nobody should get carried away, as no profiles or names are being looked at yet and no one has been contacted. On the alternative of Dani Martínez, he acknowledges that he is doing well, but points out that he is a centre-back. If one of the two full-backs gets injured, a starter is needed. He would be happy to see the club back him or Arnau, although the club is thinking along different lines.
And he drops a second idea that may sound strange: he does not rule out the arrival of another midfielder. Jesús Martínez Caja does not rule it out either, because there could be a departure in midfield.
