Atlético de Madrid have announced the squad for tonight's Champions League clash with Bayern Munich at the Metropolitano, which kicks off at 21:00
Club Atlético de Madrid face one of the standout fixtures of the 2026-2027 season tonight at the Metropolitano. The Rojiblancos host FC Bayern Munich at 21:00, chasing a second European win that would help Diego Pablo Simeone's side climb the table and close in on the top eight.
As Nacho Donado has been reporting on El Club Uría, captain Jorge Resurrección Merodio 'Koke' rejoined the group in training and has made the squad for the meeting with the German giants.
There were doubts over whether Cristian 'Cuti' Romero would be included, as Simeone declined to commit either way in his pre-match press conference, but the Argentine defender has been left out and will rest until the LaLiga game against FC Barcelona. Johnny Cardoso has not been called up either, joining his midfield teammate Morten Hjulmand on the sidelines; Hjulmand's absence was already known after his red card in the trip to Stuttgart.
Finally, young midfielder Jorge Castillo returns to the squad after missing the visit to Levante. Meanwhile, right-back Romeo Hueso earns his first call-up. The Valencian, who is enjoying a strong start to the campaign with reserve side Atlético Madrileño, is rewarded with a place in the first-team squad in a setting as dreamlike as a Champions League night at the Metropolitano.
