Atlético membership fee has risen 56% since 2017
From €50 in 2017 to €78 in 2026, and it began as a temporary measure during the pandemic
Rubén Uría reads out how the Atlético membership fee has changed since 2017
The club has raised the membership fee again, this time to €78. Rubén Uría understands that everything in football is getting more expensive, but wonders how far the increases will go. The panel point out that the general membership fee was introduced during the pandemic.
The discussion opens with a topic that has Atlético fans stirred up on social media. Rubén Uría reads out a tweet from Juan Ignacio: Atlético have raised the membership fee yet again, for the umpteenth year running, to €78 in 2026, up from €72 the previous year. In 2017, when the club moved to the Metropolitano, it cost €50. That is a 56% increase.
One panellist jokes that the Government might have passed an emergency decree for season tickets too, and Uría cuts him off immediately: no politics, as there are already Atlético fans arguing about that.
Uría considers it normal for the fee to go up, since everything in football has gone up, but wonders where the increases will end. Another panellist offers some context: the membership fee did not exist as such for season-ticket holders. It was the membership card for those without a season ticket, and it was extended to everyone during the pandemic, justified by the club's financial difficulties and loss of income.
