Atlético fans endure travel chaos on the road to Stuttgart
Cancelled flights, passengers taken off planes and hours of delays on the way to the MHP Arena
Nacho Donado reports from Stuttgart on the travel problems faced by Atlético fans
The club speaks of 1,100 Atlético supporters in Stuttgart, but Nacho Donado adds a caveat: many have had serious trouble getting there, and it is unclear whether all those seats will be filled.
Rubén Uría recalled that around 1,100 Atlético supporters were set to be inside Stuttgart's stadium, a ground full of fond memories: it was there that the club won the 1962 Cup Winners' Cup against Fiorentina.
Nacho Donado confirmed that Atleti fans could already be seen around the city centre, with meeting points set up for the march to the stadium. But he was keen to put a caveat on the official figure: there have been cancelled flights, colleagues taken off planes and flights landing three or four hours late. He himself explained that at the time he was due to touch down in Stuttgart, he was only just leaving his connecting airport.
That is why he was unsure whether all 1,100 seats would be filled, and he hoped everyone would arrive in time to enjoy an Atleti win.
