Moments after the 1-1 draw between Stuttgart and Atlético, Rubén Uría is in no doubt: Atleti leave Germany alive after an opening half-hour in which they were overrun. Julián's stunning goal and Hjulmand's red card defined the night.
As soon as the final whistle blew at the MHP Arena, Rubén Uría opened his live stream with a blunt verdict: the point Atlético de Madrid take home from Stuttgart feels like a victory, because the German side gave them a real hammering in the first half.
The presenter highlighted Julián Álvarez's superb goal, which finally ended his scoring drought and brought the equaliser. But he lamented what came next: with Atleti already level and Baena giving them the upper hand in midfield, Morten Hjulmand committed what Rubén called, pardon the expression, an act of sheer stupidity. An inexplicable challenge on Angelo Stiller's ankle earned him a red card and left the team with ten men.
Even so, his reading of the game is positive: Atlético come out alive from a match in which they made plenty of mistakes and in which, he admits, Stuttgart were much the better side, especially in an opening half-hour when the Rojiblancos simply could not cope.
