Alberto Carballo is even harsher than Rubén Uría, describing an unworthy performance from the game plan to the execution. He finds it worrying and, above all, deflating.
When Rubén Uría hands over to him, Alberto Carballo delivers a blunt verdict. For him, it is one of the worst big games he has seen Atlético play in the Champions League, and he calls it completely unworthy of the club.
I don't think anything went right, he explains, from the game plan to the execution by most of the players. He spares three or four players. The rest, in his view, fell well short of what is expected of a pot one side.
Carballo accepts that a long season is bound to include bad games, but he finds this one worrying because of the disappointment it leaves and how little there is to cling to. He hopes it turns out to be just a bad night that the team can learn and grow from ahead of a very important Sunday.
